Onerous duties. Burdens. Legal matters of all kinds. Fiats and decrees and edicts. Precedents and decisions and verdicts. Inescapable responsibilities. Weightiness. Taxation. Those with law and authority on their side make their presence and their weight fully known.

There may be efforts made to throw off these weights by those they affect, but these efforts will not prevail within this time-frame.

The Fulfilment:

Israel: Jerusalem: Orthodox Jews riot in the streets, protesting traffic on the Sabbath. Police intervene with horses and water cannon. Peace, order and security.

Sri Lanka: Tamils seize army camp of Mullaitivu, killing or capturing most of the 1200 men defending it.

Burundi: Ethnic clash leaves 300 dead in a village of Tutsis, mostly women and children. Country is slipping into genocide.

Israel: Israelis and Hezbollah militias trade prisoners and coffins at the Lebanese border. This is the first trade of PoWs ever completed between the two sides and settles several grievances dating back a decade.

Spain: Basques bomb a tourist hotel, injuring 35 people. Two more bombs discovered and police evacuate 500+ tourists from other locations. Peace, order and security.

Canada: Quebec: Flooding in the Saguenay country forces evacuation of 9000 residents, many by military helicopter. Seven dead.

Spain: More bombs planted at tourist hotels. Police evacuate all guests and the bombs are defused without further incident. Peace, order and security.

USA: Chicago: Pipe bomb found on an airport runway. Security net descends on the place. Peace, order and security.

Pakistan: Package bomb explodes at Lahore airport. Nine dead and a dozen maimed.

Colombia: Police put down protests by agricultural workers who rely on drug crops for their livelihood. Peace, order and security from "those with law and order on their side".

Burundi: Tutsi army expels thousands of Rwandan Hutu refugees from border camps to push them back into Rwanda. Those "with law and order on their side" ...

Russia: Yeltsin will support the UN and USA in efforts to not further water down nuclear test ban treaty before signing ceremony scheduled for Spetember. This is a message to other countries to line up -- making his "weight fully known" ...

France: Police arrest man working in the Basque terrorist executive and responsible for arms and logistics. One of their top three men. "Legal matters of all kinds."

Haiti: Two men accused of assassinating the Justice Minister in 1993 are at last put on trial beginning today. This is the first of what the govt hopes will be a great many human rights trials in the country. "Legal matters of all kinds."

China: Political dissident launches lawsuit against the govt, saying it violated his human rights by sending him to a labour camp. Good luck to him! :-) "Legal matters of all kinds."

Israel: PLO holds first meeting with govt since elections in May and they agree to revive the peace talks.

Spain: Police encounter group of Basque terrorists on the eve of a major bomb strike against a hotel. All are arrested. Those "with law and order on their side" ...
