The Celtic Cross:
Celestial Energy
Ancient Spiritstm sells hand-made porcelain pendant jewellery decorated in astrological

The cross symbolises celestial energy. The earliest Celtic crosses were simple free-standing
carved stones in Ireland and Northumbria. But as northern Scotland was Christianised through
the 7th century, the Picts, with their long tradition of symbol stone carving, began producing
cross slabs -- large rectangular stones with an elaborate cross on the face and highly decorated
panels on the back and sides. This type of carved stone cross soon spread to other Celtic areas
and has produced many exceptional examples of early stone carver's art. The cross itself is
a universal symbol from ancient times and, like the sacred tree and standing stone, it represents
to the Celts the union of celestial and earthly forces. The arms of the cross indicate infinite
spiritual expansion in all directions and the inner circle symbolises the unity and consolidation
of these powers into a central point, a source of potent spiritual energy.
